Oh, Iowa!

We have driven across Iowa 8 times in the last 2 months! We have been house hunting in Nebraska and Iowa is pretty much all that stands between it and Illinois. Let me just say that I won't miss driving across Iowa. Sarah finds it so boring, she resorts to catching flies...

The kids have little televisions that they use for watching movies in the car, but the twins think it's lots more fun to bug mommy. They love to play the "I dropped blankie and I'm gonna freak out if you don't give it back to me" game. They also love to continuously request food and drink or that the air conditioner be turned up or down. Do you see the mischief in their eyes??

I'm sure you'd be shocked to know that there really isn't much going on in Iowa except for corn fields, right? It's true! The highlight of this 7 hour drive is the stretch of road where they have created a wind farm. I swear there are a hundred of these wind turbines. I am totally mesmerized by them and have a few moments of deep thought about whether they are earth friendly sculpture or menacing obstacles on the natural landscape. I'm still undecided.

While I have deep thoughts about their impact on the landscape, Scott ponders (out loud) about what the cows think of them. :)

I LOVE the wind turbines! They remind me of watching ballet. There's enough country land left au-naturale that we can afford to do something good for the earth like having these non-polutant forms of energy. In fact when we've been house hunting we've purposely looked in some of the areas near-by that have them!
